DAY TRIPPIN' DOWN MORNINGTON PENINUSULA

Suns out, bums out! Or in our case, cars out!  Driving along the Victorian coast, with the crystal clear sky and bright sun rays shining on us through the top of our convertible car, our trip to Mornington Beach and the Rare Hare restaurant was one of the best ways to embrace what Victoria has to offer.

The modern mixed country style cafes on Mornington’s Main Street are an essential pit stop if you are driving from Melbourne to the Peninsula. Whether you’re in need of a picturesque meal, brunch, or, at least, a cup of boutique standard coffee, Mornington has it all!

There is a never ending list of beautiful beach spots along the coast of Victoria, however one of the most iconic and insta-worthy locations is Mornington’s rainbow-coloured beach boxes, which perfectly resemble Melbourne’s colourful beach scene. Draping the coastline of Port Phillip Bay from Mount Eliza to Portsea, these seemingly simple bathing boxes are sure to provide an effervescently colourful setting to any summer day-trip! Historically passed down through generations,  the iconic boxes are undoubtedly worthy of the tourist  and real estate popularity they have garnered over the years.

Once we had received our vitamin D dose for the week, we decided to continue the trip, to see the biggest Rabbit shaped statue in Mornington, Jackalope Hotel, which happens to be one of the most hyped hotels in Victoria. With our time slipping from beneath us, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to stay for lunch and a couple of wines at their rustic yet very elegant restaurant, Rare Hare.

The unbelievably enchanting view of super polished vines made us feel as though we were living in a fantasy world. What’s even more impressive is the hotel’s lap pool, which overlooks the vineyard, providing us with a view not many are lucky enough to experience.

Now feeling rejuvenated, thanks to some delicious food and fresh, earthy wines, we are already checking our calendars to find the next free opportunity to go back and explore more of what Mornington peninsula has to offer!
